The Expresso Planalto Central project is an innovation in the Brazilian mobility sector, bringing the concept of Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) together with intercity rail transport, in a symbiotic model where the railway enables real estate development and vice versa. This positive interdependence provides an appropriate solution for passenger commuting in the Southern Exit (Saída Sul) of the Federal District, promoting suburban transport at speeds of up to 160 km/h, drastically reducing users' daily travel time.

This railway will connect the central region of Brasília/DF to the Municipality of Luziânia/GO, with an approximate extension of up to 70 km. This railway section is an urban development cluster along the BR-040 highway, in the Southern Exit of the Federal District, where the largest urban population in the surroundings of this Integrated Region of Economic Development (RIDE-DF) is concentrated.
